Grants - Frequently Asked Questions Q: Do I need to be a professional grant writer to apply? A: Absolutely not, the application is designed to be as simple as possible, while assuring that the proposed project is going to effectively use the donations that make up the grant fund. If you have questions regarding the application, contact Lisa Kutschera at 317-284-1239.
Q: A group of us have a great idea, but we aren’t a non-for-profit organization. How can we get a grant to fund our project? A: Consider taking your idea to a non-for-profit in your community and asking them to partner with you to apply for a grant. Some examples might be a local YMCA, or a school system foundation. Allow time for the internal review process of the other organization.
Q: Can I get a grant for my individual child? A: The program is not designed to make awards to individual families.
Q: Are these grants just for Indianapolis? A: No, AAI continues to provide grants for activities based throughout Indiana.
Q: Will the grant program pay for start-up costs for our group? A: The grant program is generally not designed to pay for start-up costs (e.g., copiers, phone lines, computers, etc.)
Q: Who decides which grants are approved? A: The review committee consists of the Grant Chairman, AAI board members, parents of autistic children, and AAI volunteers. |
